App Smackdown

The app that I have chosen to do is Moodpath: Depression and Anxiety. This is a great way to track and help your mental health. It helps you get your daily thoughts and feelings out without having to talk face to face with someone. It is strictly done all via technology. It is here to improve your mental health, even if you did not think you truly needed it. This app is there for you and your needs. They personalize and cater to you based off your questions and answers. They notify you daily on when to check back in and answer questions. Each time being different questions, with either multiple answers or a type box. Though only after fourteen days can they give you an understanding of where your mental status is at. Which is predicted from someone with a medical background. Then the app is then able to give you the correct excises and information to improve yourself.
I personally believe this app is great because it is so easy to access and participate in. Some people do not get help they need when they have anxiety or depression simply because they do not want to talk to a stranger. With the app the user can do it where ever they feel most comfortable and whenever they wish. There are no restrictions on how often or how little you can participate. Nor is there anyone personally speaking to you. Which could be a great plus for somebody who is very shy. This could help you open up in way you would never do in a face to face situation. Also not everybody has insurance or great coverage, this holds back people from getting the help they need. This app is completely free leaving you to get the help you need at no cost. It’s perfect with it being everything you could need just at the tips of your fingers!

I know for me personally, I have never heard of the app called Moodpath: Depression and Anxiety, so right away, I was curious as to what this app was and how I could use it in my life. As someone who takes mental health seriously, I was immediately interested in learning about this app! As a future teacher, I'm not sure how I would be able to tell a student to use this, but I am sure if I saw a student was showing signs, appropriate action would be taken. I think the way it asks questions to determine where you are mental health-wise is interesting, and I will be downloading it and trying it out! Thank you for sharing this app I can't wait to try it out!

  15. Sarah,
Your presentation of this app frames how many features, tools, and ways it can be used, very well. I agree when you said that mental health is extremely important and it's always good to have a place to keep track of that. Especially for students who may not want to publicly express they struggle with some of these issues. This app was a really great idea to use as your smackdown.
