Chapter 6: The Connected Leaner

In the following, Chapter 6: The Connected Learner the main focus throughout was how to build and succeed in a learning community. Though it was not just any community they mention, it was how to do so within the virtual community as well. When one is in such a community it helps expand their knowledge and learn from the ones around them or in this case the ones posting around them. Whenever anyone is in such communities it can help form connections between one and another. Leaving you with relationships that could help you get a better understanding of what you are actually taking in. Who knows maybe you find others with the same interest as you and work together towards a common goal. They point out the importance of picking the correct learning community for yourself. You want to make sure that whatever one you choose will make you grow and not be too easy. In the end the point of all of this is to help yourself and further your career.
I myself have recently joined a learning community that is both virtual and in person. I was nominated by Stockton University to join The National Society of Leadership and Success. I personally think this is a great community because I have recently learned all the benefits I can receive and be a part of. Some of these amazing benefits I will receive are letters of recommendations, scholarship and awards, partner benefits and discounts, broadcast archives, success coaches, leadership collection, and a job bank. Though before I can take advantage of those benefits of being a member, I must first work towards being inducted. To be so I must attend orientation, leadership training day, three speaker broadcasts and 3 success networking team meetings. This will be a lot of work and time to get all these things done, but it will be worth it in the end. The multiple door that this can open for my future career are endless.

This chapter showed me that connecting with people on things such as social media and truly be very beneficial. I think that we almost talk social media for granted and a lot of times do not take full advantage of everything it offers.
