Chapter 2: Connected Educator
Throughout the Second Chapter: Developing a Connected Learning Model there were three main approaches mentioned that could always be improved. These three were professional learning communities, personal learning networks, and communities of practice. Though for any of those to be successful there are other steps that need to be taken in consideration. You need to be thoughtful of diversity, your transparency, and use of language. With each of the ways mention it is to be taught in a connective learning environment due to the day and age we live in today. Almost everyone now has some type of electronic which then leads to some form of social network, community or group. With the job that I have in mind of perusing this will play a huge part. I’m looking into being a therapist. When you’re a therapist is defined in the dictionary as, “a person trained in the use of psychological methods for helping patients overcome psychological problems”.
When it comes to this field of profession it is never ending in learning. There is always more research being conducted and new information coming to light. Could you imagine if we used the same information from the first therapist alive. The information and data would be very out of date. Yes, we still use some of the same information from the past, but we have used that information to grow off of. We have been able to go off of one another’s information and help explore what more there is to that. Using a different set of eyes and mind could find something that the other may have missed. Just like stated in the book, “professional learning communities are about continuous improvement, shared leadership, and school reform” (Nussbaum-Beach, 29).

Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your take and perspective on the information read in chapter 2 because you made a very good point about the ever growing world we live in. Electronics are a huge part of our lives and they have now shaped the world we live in. They do help use connect with other individuals whether it be for social aspects or as part of a working aspect. The use of the three connective learning approaches has helped our lives evolve and the work we do change and grow. Good luck in your future profession. I think it is such a great profession to get into.
